What happens after you join? After you’ve met with the Session and been received into membership, you will be called forward during a worship service (typically right after the sermon). Depending upon how you are joining, you will be baptized, you will reaffirm your faith, or, in the case of transfer of membership, you will simply be introduced as a new member. We’ll take your picture and it will be posted on the New Members board in the Fellowship Hall. You will also receive a new member welcome basket from the Deaconate. Data from the new member information form you filled out will be entered in the church’s membership data base. An elder or deacon will be assigned to you to serve as a First Friend. He/she will help you identify education, fellowship, and ministry opportunities that fit your needs and gifts as a way to help ensure you find your place in this family of faith. He/she will also check with you on a regular basis to see if there is anything that we can do for you. |
